Minnesota Remembers: CANCELLED at Fort Snelling National Cemetery for 2020
Focus Turned to Flag Requests & Fundraising
May 11th, 2020
—We are saddened to announce that our
Minnesota Remembers Memorial Day Event has been canceled for 2020
In addition to following strict federal orders, it is our genuine concern to keep our patriotic supporters safe and healthy during this questionable times.
We understand that this news might be met by a variety of feelings:
♦ There are many who have expressed their interest to gather up their own followers and place the flags for us. They are feeling patriotic and while we encourage that energy, we remind everyone there is absolutely no gathering at Fort Snelling to place flags beyond personal visitations.
♦ There have been calls asking to volunteer in other ways to keep the Memorial Day Spirit alive despite Covid-19, and we cannot agree enough! We would love other assistance with fundraising, making calls and sending emails to local organizations to introduce them to our cause.
♦ What about Flag Placement Requests? If you have a loved one you hope to still see honored with an American Flag, please click the link to place a request and we are seeing what we can do to keep patriots connected with their loved ones.
How Will 2020 Memorial Day Look?
Our fallen heroes will still be honored this Memorial Day– Responsibly.
♦ The leaders of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery are working on the Memorial Day Ceremony being viewed online.
♦ Watch our FACEBOOK PAGE during Memorial Week for more ways to keep the patriotism and honor alive during a time when Covid-19 is working hard to keep us apart. We can still be there for each other, so be sure to LIKE our page!
♦ Flag Requests will be the only flags personally placed this year and providing a photo of the headstone online. Flag Requests are free, but we really appreciate any donations to help us keep this service going!
♦ Have you been a Flag Runner? We may need a limited number of volunteers to help us get through Memorial Week. All communications will be via email and video chat, with the exception of turning in requests to leaders at the cemetery. Get Registered
