A Look Back to the beginning: Flags For Fort Snelling 2016

2016 Kare 11 Memorial Day Coverage

Flags for Fort Snelling began its mission with meager beginnings- Take a look back at where we started and how far we have come. Just two years ago, our organization “couldn’t possibly do them all”, but with our determination and the continued contributions of Veteran-supporting organizations, local corporations, and Minnesota’s generous citizens, we are prepared to make history on Memorial Day weekend 2018!

KARE 11 is teaming up with Flags for Fort Snelling, Mall of America, RBCU, and VantagePoint Marketing LLC to honor those who have served in the United States Military by raising the funds needed to honor each one of our heroes and their family members laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with an American Flag on Memorial Day.

Help put flags on every grave at Ft. Snelling on Memorial Day

The goal is to purchase flags that can be placed on every grave each Memorial Day. Support by making a financial contribution to purchase flags and volunteering to place the flags on the graves.

MINNEAPOLIS – KARE 11 is teaming up with Flags for Fort Snelling,  Mall of America, RBCU and VantagePoint Marketing LLC  to honor those who have served in the United States Military by raising the funds needed to honor the heroes laid to rest at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery with an American Flag on Memorial Day. This is an honored tradition that hasn’t been accomplished at Fort Snelling in more than thirty-five years. This goal is ambitious and the organizations involved will need community support to see it accomplished.

How you can help:

Make a donation to help purchase flags. $225,000 is needed to purchase flags and cover operational costs in order to honor each hero that has been laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Every donation, large or small, makes a difference. You can also volunteer to help place flags over Memorial Day weekend.

The TEGNA Foundation will match the first $11,000 donated to this cause.
